A gold watch used to be a symbol of a lifetime of work for a company. It was a reward for decades of dedication. It was given out of gratitude from a thankful employer. But it is a different time. People no longer work their whole life at one place. You also no longer have to wait to treat yourself to a gold watch. Well maybe you have to save for a lifetime for a gold watch, but just about everyone can afford a gold tone watch. Especially if it is a gold tone PVD coated watch from Casio. It gives you all the good looks of gold, without the prohibitive costs.
Enter the Casio Enticer MTPVD01SG-9BV, an analog, three hand watch (hours, minutes, seconds). The dial is a light gold, sector dial with Arabic numerals at 6, 9, and 12. A date window takes up the 3 o'clock position. The date is black printing on a white background and blends in nicely on the dial. There are printed bar indexes at the rest of the hour markers with half a bar at the 3 o'clock position beyond the date window. Inside of those indexes is very small printed black indexes with an equally small inverted triangle at the 12 o'clock position. Minutes around the outer track have longer thinner black hash marks. There is limited print on the dial including Casio in black at the top and water resist and 50m at the bottom. Gold hands feature mild lume in the hour and minute hands and the seconds hand features a red tip. It is a nice touch. There is a non-movable polished dive time style bezel with smooth edges and gold markings. The polished case includes crown guards protecting the gold unsigned crown. The bracelet that is included is a two tone stainless with polished gold PVD center links for a classy look.
If that is not enough gold, there is the Casio Enticer MTPVD01G-1BV, also and analog, three hand watch (hours, minutes, seconds). This time the dial is a black, but a similar sector dial with Arabic numerals at 6, 9, and 12. An identical date window again takes up the 3 o'clock position. This time the non-movable dive time style bezel with smooth edges is PVD coated gold and features black minute markings. The gold PVD case includes crown guards protecting the gold unsigned crown. The bracelet on this one is two tone brushed gold PVD with polished gold PVD center links. It makes a statement for sure.
If you are looking for something more than a desk diver, look no further than the Casio MDV106G-1AV gold Duro. With its screw down crown and 200 meters of water resistance, it is a truly capable dive watch. I replaced the original black resin strap with a two tone Strapcode jubilee bracelet on my Casio MDV106G-1AV gold Duro to highlight the gold and stainless look of the case and bezel. Installing the Strapcode bracelet takes a little work because it was designed for a Seiko 5 with a 42.5mm case. It has solid end links and required a little filing of the tips where the end links meet the case back. It also required the use of the original Casio spring bars instead of the fat spring bars that came with it. with a little coaxing from a spring bar tool it will tightly secure into place with no wiggle or play. It is a stunning watch that gets a lot of compliments. My kids love the gold Duro and have nicknamed it Goldilocks because it is just right.
Don't be afraid to change things up on watches. I have found that strap and bracelet changes can really make a big difference. I put a khaki perlon strap from Wrist Candy Watch Club on the Casio Enticer MTPVD01SG-9BV and the strap changed both the feel and the look of it. It gave it a more subdued look that people noticed. The flat textured surface of the strap really let the watch dial pop and show of it shimmery golden sunburst sector dial. I toned down the look of the all gold PDV Casio Enticer MTPVD01G-1BV by putting it on a black perlon strap from Wrist Candy Watch Club. Again, this move pulled out the look of the dial and let the golden case shine even brighter. I was inspired by the look of the Casio F91WM-9A with its black strap and golden case and black dial. It is a good look.
Casio makes a lot of gold watches. All of them seem to be really great. I have a couple more on my list to add to my collection. Maybe when my collection is complete I will retire. It is not everyday that I want to wear a gold watch, but when I do, Casio has got me covered.
