Casio Duro | Why is it my favorite watch?

As a watch enthusiast, I have had the opportunity to try out a wide variety of timepieces from different brands and in different styles. However, my all-time favorite watch is the Casio MDV106B-2AV Duro that I put on a Strapcode SS221820B117 22mm Super-J Louis watch band.

One of the main reasons I love this watch is its durability. The Casio MDV106B-2AV Duro is made with a high-quality stainless steel case and a hardened mineral crystal, which makes it resistant to scratches and impact. This means that I can wear it every day without worrying about damaging it, and it will still look good as new even after years of use.

In addition to its durability, the Casio MDV106B-2AV Duro also has a number of practical features that make it a great watch for everyday wear. It has a 200-meter water resistance rating, so I can wear it while swimming or diving without worrying about water damage. It also has a date window at 3 o'clock. It is a versatile tool for a variety of activities, but for me it is mostly just a desk diver.

But what really sets this watch apart for me is the Strapcode SS221820B117 22mm Super-J Louis watch band that I added. This jubilee style band is made of high-quality 316L stainless steel, which is known for its corrosion resistance and strength. The brushed and polished finish gives it a sleek, stylish look, and the V-clasp makes it easy to put on and take off. The strap was originally designed for a Seiko 5 with a 42.5mm case but it fits the Casio MDV106B-2AV Duro just fine. When installing it, I had to use the original Casio spring bars and give it a little tension with a spring bar tool when installing it. I also had to file the tips of the high quality solid end links that came with the bracelet where it met up with the case back of the Casio MDV106B-2AV Duro. This was not difficult for me and custom fitting the bracelet made for a tight fit of the bracelet to the case. Well worth the effort in my opinion, as the end result is a night and day difference from the original Casio resin strap.

There was nothing wrong with the Casio resin strap. In fact, I know a lot of people who have worn them for years and love them. For them it is a matter of, if it ain't broke, why fix it. For me, I can never leave well enough alone. I love the idea of customizing it to my own taste. So early on, I swapped it out for a 22mm perlon strap from Wrist Candy Watch Club and I loved that. It was light weight and breathable and totally changed the look and feel of the Duro. To me, perlon straps are a must have. Lot of people love NATOs, but you don't see a ton of perlons. When I am choosing a perlon, I will usually opt for a two tone mélange style. In this case it was a blue and black mix. It gives it a little more visual texture. The flat sheen of a perlon makes the watch pop a little more. The contrast really highlights the case finish, and the bezel and dial color. I have put it on NATOs, leather, and other bracelets. Then I got the Strapcode SS221820B117 22mm Super-J Louis bracelet which changed the look completely and I haven't looked back since.

Overall, the Casio MDV106B-2AV Duro on a Strapcode SS221820B117 22mm Super-J Louis watch band is my favorite watch because it combines practicality, durability, and style in a single timepiece. Whether I'm in a meeting, out on the town or just need to know the time and date, this watch has me covered. It's the perfect watch for everyday wear, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish timepiece. I like it so much, I bought more than one Casio Duro, in fact I bought them all. I even bought duplicates of some and I plan to review them all and even mod a few and will post the info on this site in the future.
